ABOUT ME
I received my PhD from Michigan State in 1996. From 1996-2000, I served on the faculty at the University of Notre Dame in the Deparment of Finance and Business Economics. I joined the faculty at Clemson in 2001. For much of this period, 2001-2012, I was a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta. In 2007 and 2008, I had the opportunity to serve as an economic adviser to the President of the United States. As a member of the Council of Economic Advisers, I was to provide economic analyses of current events, pending legislation and, and assisted with the production of the Economic Report of the President. I have been fortunate enough to receive recognition for my research from the Journal of International Economics in 2001/2002 (Bhagwati Award) and Economics Inquiry (2007 for the paper of the year). More recently, I have served as a consultant to the Congressional Budget Office, the United States International Trade Commission and USAID.
